Based on a true story of a Platoon of allied Art expects commissioned by the President to go in to France, Belgium and German as Hitler and the Nazis retreat. To rescue and restore pieces of art and sculptures.

A star studded cast fill the monuments men which is written, directed and stared in by George Clooney. It does not hang around at the beginning and gets straight into the plot which means there is always something happening in the film.Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity) and George Clooney (Gravity) bring the bulk of the strength from the acting but I found that Hugo Bonneville's small but very well presented part as Donald Jeffries gave the film its back bone.Touching on the themes of pride, what is worth a mans live to save and how to preserve the future of our way of life by protecting our past.

If your looking for an all out action WW2 film like saving private Ryan this is probably not the best but it dose have some of the same subjects it is more of a witty hart warming true story of some (mostly) old men that go to a war zone and protect what is most dear to them.

The film could do with a bit of tiding up and is not perfect but I think that George Clooney has done a grand job of it. Bill Murray give his best performance for a long time and John Goodman really bring home the sense that this is still war and in no means is it going to be pretty as we see his character develop though out.

A great cast brings a well rounded Drama with the odd bits ofComedy and Action, not perfect but all you would want from a film and definitely a decent watch.

I've seemed to have stepped on a land mine 70/100
