After a mission goes wrong an assassin is left laying in the sea. When he is picked up by a fishing boat he has no idea who he is and what has happened. Once he discovers he is the assassin Jason Bourne he struggles to come to terms with what he might have done.
The Bourne Identity is a classic action thriller that has 2 sequels and a equal (Bourne supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum and Bourne Legacy) that follow it. It was a smash hit in 2002 with matt Damon (perviously of Good Will Hunting and Saving Private Ryan and later of Green Zone and The Monuments Men) as the star Jason Bourne. Even though Damon had some big part perviously this really showed he acting skill and made him the Hollywood success that he is now. It was also a great feat for director Doug Liman who when on to produce Supremacy and Ultimatum.
The way that this film is set up works so well as you feel you are in the same situation as Bourne learning who his is and really wanting to know what happened. There is a twist around every corner making it a true thriller and a movie that keeps you coming back for more, which is why the other are so successful. I found that the best part was how Bourne is so cleaver, some of the things that he does to outwit other assassins and get the upper hand are so outrageously stunning that it leaves you laughing when you probably shouldn't be.
This is a classic film and one of my favourites its clever, action packed and the plot is so good you can wait to watch the sequels. It an all rounded film which is perfect for a saturday night action movie.
